According to reports, from 2004 to 2008, Hong Kong and ASEAN's average annual growth of bilateral trade 11.4%; although affected by financial crisis, the two sides of 2009 decreased by 12% of bilateral trade, but ASEAN still become Hong Kong's third largest trading partner after the Mainland of China and the EU, the total trade of HK $ 5093.
With the economic recovery in the first quarter of 2010, Hong Kong and ASEAN's bilateral trade volume reaches 1440 billion, an increase of 39.6 per cent higher than the corresponding Hong Kong and Asia region overall bilateral trade volume 36.7%, is considerably more than the same period with the United States and the EU's bilateral trade volume increase.
